about

Ov Pain have landed with another album. ‘Kauri Island’ is the product of an abundance of iso-time, a long 2020 winter in the sacred native rainforest of the Waitakere Ranges and their reoccurring desire to challenge their aesthetic selves.
The six-track album solidifies around a live-hardware palette with a distinctively minimalist production style. The textures and themes of the material are in the vein of what is becoming their characteristic musical identity: to dis-identify with dominant norms and break with that which disqualifies difference.
In the face of the dark march of our Anthropocene Ov Pain gifts a micro-environment in which some of the animism long at play in the world might come into focus.
